Summary

The Research and Development Engineer will help the company to maintain its competitiveness by keeping an eye on developing trends, determining what the competition is doing, and participating in development of solutions and products for the company. Also, conducts analysis and obtains a sound understanding of current conditions within a specific sector or market. 


Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and development activities as per requirements from Business Development Roadmap.
  • Using accepted methods and techniques, assist with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical engineering products, systems and subsystems
  • Learn and apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes

Solution Architect

Summary

The Solution Architect:

  • Specializes in evaluating business/market requirements and turning them into solutions in the form      of products or services. Also, oversees all technological risks and make sure that the described solution proves to be consistent while meeting all the necessary requirements.
  • In pre-sales stage, plays key primary role as a business consultant as well as solution architect working closely with Sales/Product/Portfolio team and external partners to research      market demands and/or analyze customer's RFI/RFP and actively involved in bid proposal activities (in writing as well as developing the high-level/detailed-level design). Also, in developing customer experience blueprints and detailed lifecycle plans guiding campaign execution.
  • In delivery stage, works as a subject matter expert to guide the operations teams in order to make the design as well as taking responsibility for implementation, commission, test and acceptance. Actively leading engineering activities in support of day-to-day management by making improvements and/or supporting automation initiatives to the existing systems to operate them in an optimized manner and/or to improve the reliability and availability. This includes researching      and recommending tools and platforms to meet functional requirements, then overseeing on-boarding and integrations.
  • Primarily leading the solution and/or technology roadmaps via Release Lifecycle Management.  


Responsibilities

  • Support Level 3 whenever required on proactive/improvement initiatives towards improvement of      efficiency and automation in operations and implement resolutions as appropriate. 
  • Support Level 3 whenever required on root cause analysis and reporting to identify and document the root cause of a problem in order to create effective corrective actions that will prevent that problem from re-occurring. 
  • Participate whenever required in major Incident Technical Meetings to provide feedback/updates/technical consultation to the manager-on-duty, including the customer.
  • The administration and troubleshooting of complex infrastructure (hardware/software) that may      fall outside of problem management such as task forces with the aim to develop or identify sustainable solutions.
  • Detail Technical Designs and solutions – Lead the development, maintenance and evergreening of designs per each area of technology. 
  • Vendor liaison and Innovation - keep abreast with Infrastructure developments in the marketplace and work with Sales/Product/Portfolio team to lead proof of concept projects as necessary and to contribute to well research recommendations as a business case (Costs, Benefit, Risks, Value to      Customers, Value to company).
  • Liaison with delivery organizations - actively work with the delivery organization      to ensure that the services can be operated in an effective manner. 
  • Problem and Escalation management – Actively support the operations teams in the event      of critical situations and with structural issues in the infrastructure.
  • Publication of Standards – Lead and contribute to all Technology Standards and building blocks according to company document management standards.
  • Governance of Standards – Lead in technology design and product Steering Groups to police and control standards effectively.
  • Procurement – support and lead effective negotiation, procurement and selection criteria of technology according to the company guidelines.
  • Exploiting technology – ensure a standardized method of service delivery which is aligned with company guidelines.
  • Investments and projects – contribute to the preparation of business cases for capital      investment and proof of concepts or complex programmes.
  • Communications plan – contribute to an effective communications plan for all associated      stakeholders.
  • Coordination: Lead a cross-functional project team in support of technical activities.
  • Training: Train, coach and mentor operations teams on key Technologies Standards and building      blocks or as directed by relevant stakeholders, playing a very important role in employee development.
  • Demonstrate in-depth technical expertise across a diverse area of technology. The role will influence and support the choice of technical solutions and is able to spot and raise opportunities for adding business value, reducing operational/infrastructure cost and improved service levels.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of all major hardware and layered products and related methods, processes and practices.
  • Investments and projects – contribute to the preparation of business cases for capital investment and proof of concepts or complex programmes.
  • Supplier cost management – Review of supplier’s/partner’s products and services and make recommendation to reduce costs or optimize the costs as necessary.
  • Accountable for the technical engineering standards and product portfolio, based on company’s standard architecture and reference designs. This includes designing, building and maintaining      the standards and solutions for use in all operations teams. 
  • Well-versed in security, system performance, troubleshooting, clustering, and fluent in scripting. 


Key Requirements 

Note: Technologies may be any variation of those listed below, but not necessarily limited to.

  • Experience working in multiple technology domains including aspects of Windows, Linux, SAP, Oracle and other database administration technologies, Microsoft, Livelink, Information Security, Identity and Access Management and networking.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience in virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of Process Automation and Integration.
  • Knowledge of Scripting/Programming (Python, JAVA, Ruby, Perl, YAML, GO, ABAP)
  • Experience with developing and utilizing Dev Ops Technologies
  • In-depth knowledge on any of Windows Server, Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, Linux Server, RHEL6+, SUSE Enterprise, Ubuntu Enterprise, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and other technologies such as, but not limited to, Livelink.
  • Good knowledge in Cloud Security Architecture and Penetration Testing
  • IoT Architecture design with Edge Computing
  • Strong knowledge of Container Environments and relevant technologies
  • Experience in setting up robust, high-availability Cloud Infrastructure landscapes, according to project scope, time and budget
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Disaster Recovery 
  • Experience in configuring high availability setup and monitoring tools
  • Ability to analyze and validate the ‘best-fit’ cloud platform and solution
  • AWS/Azure Professional/Expert Level Solution Architect Certification preferred
